Obnoxiously Easy

By on April 15, 2006

Xampp is by far the best installation method for a web server on OS X, Linux, and Windows. It is a breeze to get everything and then some up and running. One of the things I love about xampp is the manner it installs everything and the file structure it creates is extremely easy to manage. If you use xampp you will be able to install Apache 2, MySQL, SQLite, Webalizer, PHPMYADMIN, PHP4 and 5, GD image library, Ming swf library, Tomcat with little or no work. You can be running everything you for a web server I have also installed the Ruby on Rails framework now on all of my computers with the xampp configureation. I am able to run php, ruby, tomcat all at the same time. This gives the developer a wide variety of environments to work in. So I highly recommend xampp for ease of use and for all of the extra features it gives the end user.

Lately from home I have been using the Ruby on Rails framework to create dynamic web content. If you are a web developer I highly recommend giving it a look. It takes all the grunt work out of making applications it even comes in with a built in ajax library to work with (scriptiolicious). If that is not a good incentive than I suggest looking into what scaffolding is on ruby.

The Walls are Thin

By Brendon Smith on April 4, 2006

My father is going thorough a rough time in his life. So he thinks… I have heard intense arguments in my apartment complex. To the point where I hear screaming and things being banged against the wall that shouldn’t be… I saw a tenant this evening explain to me that she literally walked into a car door to explain her black eye. A lie. Her son did this to her. My father is very bright a literary genius undiscovered. I think we should live like vagrants. We should record the whole trip….. An adventure and make it public. I think the best fun is most definitely for free… I think we have it so great here in the US that people take it for granted.
