Free Ryzom

By Brendon Smith on November 27, 2006

Well evidently a mmorpg company is going bankrupt and they are offering up their software it looks like some of the developers and community are gathering together in an attempt to make the project completely open source. They are comparing the project to the Blender project. I did contribute money in the past to Ton Roosendaal to help make Blender an open source project and although I do not know the people involved I will still help out with the project simply because I would like to play with the source code and throw it on a server of my own. So check out the site..

What is Ryzom

Ryzom is an innovative MMORPG, which has been developed since the year 2000 by the independent studio, Nevrax. For the past two years Ryzom has been marketed and sold to gamers, developing a fiercly loyal fanbase. Unfortunately, due to market conditions and other unforseen cirucumstances, a request to begin bankruptcy proceedings has been filed at the commerce tribunal.
